Plushie Pattern Tutorial NEW by Monster-House-Fan92 Plushie Pattern Tutorial NEW by Monster-House-Fan92
September 26, 2011

LARGE FILE WARNING!

Ok, the last version was absolute shit.

So I fixed it :la:

This is a tutorial on how I go about making my patterns.

Please do not recreate the patterns shown (the Reshiram one is located for free use in the "Plushie Patterns" section of my gallery). As for the other two... hands off. The Dialga pattern was one of my first ones and is outdated. The Wheatley pattern, I'm not keen on sharing (yet).

Hope this helps guys :)

Enjoy :)

ok, thanks anyway. One more thing(which is quite weird), how do you get the moving profile pictures(for ex: your's where the wolf with the purple wings is running.

Welcome :)

Oh, you mean the icon? You can search up moving icons here on dA and then use them as your own (just make sure you credit the artist or wherever you got them from ;)).

Depends on what kind of icon you'd like. For example, if you'd want an Okami one, you'd type in "okami icon" in the search bar.

Okay, I'm curious. How do you go about making the other parts of the plushie (the underbelly and stuff that can't be seen in the flat side view)?

For making the underbelly of any plush, I take one of the side pieces and a folded piece of paper. I trace part of the side piece along the fold of the paper and cut it out, making the underbelly piece for the plush. For any other parts that cannot be seen, I look up more pictures of that character in different views or poses and go from there.

Guess my head mind doesn't understand how you made the patterns lay flat in a side view position.

It's just how my mind works, I view 3D characters in side view positions and then go from there ^^;

Ok, wait, so after messing around with it. Working on a simple design like Dratini (yes, simple, have to start somewhere) When you hid the art and leave the outlines. Dos that give it the flat look?

Not really, the shapes serve as the base for the pattern. After I have the base, I touch up the different parts and I have my pattern.

Do you use special paper to make your patterns? Do you even use paper? I actually thought of you when attempting a pattern because I remembered you said just think of the shapes and it worked out pretty well :)
